FACT CHECKING THE SEPTUAGINT: The Bible in Greek and the Virgin Birth with Rabbi MIchael Skobac
Christian apologists frequently face blatant discrepancies between the New Testament text and the Jewish scriptures. Their most common means of addressing this problem is to claim that the writers of the Christian scriptures were basing themselves upon the Septuagint, the Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible.
This is exactly how they explain Matthew's mistranslation of Isaiah 7:14 as referring to a “virgin” rather than to the actual Hebrew's reference of a “young woman”.
This video will critically examine the validity of the Septuagint and of using it as a Biblical source, rather than the original Hebrew text of the Jewish Bible, the Tanach.
